He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut and then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. Mittal knew from an early age he wanted to become a doctor. “I have several family members that are physicians and they demonstrated what an amazing and rewarding career medicine could be,” remembers Dr. Mittal. While in medical school and residency, Dr. Mittal decided to specialize in gastroenterology. “The complexity of the GI tract interested me, and I liked doing procedures. GI was the area of medicine that most challenged me to think cognitively to develop long-term solutions that can affect a patient positively and quickly.”
Dr. Mittal approaches his patients in a holistic manner, seeking to understand his patients’ overall needs, limitations, lifestyle and goals. “Together we devise a treatment plan to regain wellness that is doable and in line with the patient – and his/her family’s goals and expectations.
