Specialties
- Orthopedic Surgery
David Christian, MD, is Board Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon and fellowship-trained in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction, specializing in primary, partial and revision joint replacement of the hip and knee. He sees patients at Eisenhower Desert Orthopedic Center in Rancho Mirage. After medical school at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, Dr. Christian completed his orthopedic surgery residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago, and an Adult Reconstructive Hip and Knee fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago where he was trained in direct anterior total hip arthroplasty and minimally invasive, muscle sparing techniques.
During his early school years, Dr. Christian always had an interest in science and community service. "Pursuing a career in medicine was a natural progression to combine my interests and use my skills to help others," states Dr. Christian. An avid golfer and sports fan, he initially considered specializing in sports medicine but while in residency ultimately decided to pursue joint replacement. "I became very drawn to the impact that joint replacement surgeries can have in achieving pain relief and helping people return to an active lifestyle."
Dr. Christian treats his patients as if they were his family member. He tailors individual treatment plans for all of his patients with the goal of restoring function and relieving pain as quickly and completely as possible to improve quality of life. "I am a big advocate of maximizing alternative treatments when caring for patients, turning to surgery as the last option if other treatments don't provide the relief a patient desires," adds Dr. Christian. "Every patient is unique and I tailor each treatment plan to their specific needs and desired outcomes."
