Brian F. Gery, MD
Specialties
- Internal Medicine
After completing his undergraduate degree, Dr. Gery served in the Peace Corps in Nepal. It was during this time he decided to pursue a career in medicine. "I saw what a lack of proper health care looks like up-close," states Dr. Gery. "I was inspired to use my science degree toward helping others and becoming a physician became my goal."
Dr. Gery sees himself as an advisor to his patients. "My patients are in the driver's seat and my role is to help them to steer straight. I can educate them on how best to keep in good health, enabling a healthy lifestyle, but it's ultimately up to patient to do the work," says Dr. Gery. "The one-on-one relationship is very important. I gain great satisfaction in being able to see patients over a long period of time, understand their lives over the long-term. My patients and I become a team; we identify a goal and work on a plan to meet that goal - listening is a key component to my approach with patients. Understanding a patient's lifestyle, their challenges and what brings joy to their lives is foundational to building a workable health and wellness plan."
