Daniel Mosallaei, MD
Specialties
- Dermatology
Dr. Mosallaei (who also goes by Dr. Dan) earned his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. During medical school, he completed a dedicated research year studying epidermolysis bullosa under the mentorship of internationally renowned dermatology researchers Dr. David Woodley and Dr. Mei Chen. His research contributed to peer-reviewed publications, including work published in JAMA Dermatology. Following medical school, Dr. Mosallaei completed a one-year preliminary residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Irvine, followed by a three-year dermatology residency at the University of Southern California, where he served as Chief Resident.
Inherently drawn toward the sciences during his undergraduate education, Dr. Mosallaei knew medicine was the next step in establishing his career path. "I enjoyed my undergraduate education in biochemistry and worked in a lab to gain additional experience. It was there that I realized that I missed interacting with people. During medical school I was very interested in psychiatry and dermatology, but opted to specialize in dermatology, realizing that every aspect of medicine has a psychological element," reflects Dr. Mosallaei.
In regards to relating with his patients, Dr. Mosallaei heartily subscribes to the quotation attributed to Maya Angelou "'People don't remember what you say or do, they remember how you make them feel.' The diagnostic and treatment component of dermatology is important, but equally so is the trust and care that is established between me and my patients."
Dr. Mosallaei's clinical interests include medical dermatology, inflammatory and autoimmune skin diseases, biologic therapies, hair and scalp disorders, blistering disorders, and the diagnosis and management of skin cancer.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys comedy, film, traveling and spending time with his family.
