Dr. Schulz has been on the medical staff of Eisenhower Medical Center since 1985. Dr. Karl and Dr. Peter—the brothers, affectionately known to their patients in this community as Dr. Karl and Dr. Peter, have operated on thousands of patients in the Coachella Valley. He has been named as one of America’s Top Surgeon. He has been awarded accolades from the American Cancer Society.
Throughout the years, Dr. Karl Schulz has been honored by numerous local and state awards as testimonials for his skill and excellence in surgical care. He has served on Eisenhower medical staff committees and medical staff leadership. He served for twelve years on the Board of Trustees Eisenhower Hospital and the Eisenhower Medical Center Executive Committee. He has served on the boards of numerous Valley charity organizations.
Together with his brother and other Eisenhower general surgeon, Dr. Karl Schulz was awarded, along with the Medical Center, the lowest adjusted rate of complications for laparoscopic gallbladder removal in the state of California by ProPublica. An independent, nonprofit, investigation, award winning consumer advocate group based on Medicare data from 2009 to 2013.
Dr. Schulz is known providing personalized and dedicated surgical care. He has special interests in surgical breast cancer care, biliary surgery, cancer care, and laparoscopic surgery. He is a member of numerous professional surgical organizations including Fellowship in the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
He has enjoyed teaching residence and medical students the principles and practice of general surgery. College students have enjoyed rotations with him and he has inspired them to seek a career in Medicine.
After decades of private practice, he and his brother joined Eisenhower Medical Associates (EMA) in 2018 to ensure further surgical and medical practice success.
He has dedicated his career of 35 years to excellence in surgery. He remains focused on personalized medical care for his patients.
