Iyoob Ilyas, MD, is double Board Certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and the American Board of General Surgery. He completed his residency program at the University of Arizona and then completed the Henry Ford Hospital/Wayne State University Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship Program in Detroit, Michigan.
Growing up in India, Dr. Ilyas chose to study in the field of medicine as it is considered the noblest of professions. “I wanted my career to make a difference in others lives and medicine was a subject that most interested and challenged me,” reflects Dr. Ilyas. “I am a problem solver and surgery was a subspecialty that provided me with problems to solve! It is very gratifying to help a sick patients regain their health.” Specializing in robotic colon-rectal surgery, Dr. Ilyas found an arena that is always changing, providing new technology to assist a surgeon’s skills. “Robotic surgery is not only fascinating, but it also most often provides a less invasive means which usually provided better outcomes for the patient,” states Dr. Ilyas. “I believe the best training and technology yields the best patient outcomes.”
Dr. Ilyas considers his patients’ care to be of upmost importance. “Nothing gets in the way of my patients and their care. I believe the most challenging time of a person’s life is when they may face surgery and they are literally turning over the care of their life to a surgeon and his or her team,” states Dr. Ilyas. “I take this very seriously and my goal is to provide patients with the best information to provide assurance to them and their family.”
