Neel S. Kotrappa, MD

Neel Kotrappa, MD, is Board Certified in Sports Medicine and Family Medicine, practicing at the Eisenhower Sports Medicine Clinic in Rancho Mirage. His clinical focus encompasses non-operative orthopedic care, addressing a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries beyond those solely related to sports.

Dr. Kotrappa is dedicated to patient-centered care, emphasizing injury prevention, efficient recovery and optimal performance. He believes in empowering patients through education and collaborative decision-making, ensuring they are active participants in their health care journey.

A former multi-sport varsity athlete and NCAA All-American in tennis, Dr. Kotrappa's personal experiences in competitive sports have profoundly influenced his medical practice and approach. He understands the physical and psychological demands athletes face, enabling him to tailor treatment plans that align with each patient's unique goals for recovery and long-term health.

At the Eisenhower Sports Medicine Clinic, Dr. Kotrappa employs advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, including musculoskeletal ultrasound for all joints and extremities (excluding the spine). He is proficient in ultrasound-guided procedures such as joint injections, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Tenex, and ioverao, and is in the process of incorporating shockwave therapy into his practice.

Dr. Kotrappa earned his Bachelor of Arts in Science Management with a Biotechnology Sequence from Claremont McKenna College in Claremont. He obtained his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, followed by a Family Medicine residency at Eisenhower Health. He further specialized by completing a Sports Medicine fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
