Daniel Logsdon, MD, is a cardiothoracic surgeon with the Eisenhower Cardiothoracic Surgery Specialty Clinic in Rancho Mirage. After earning an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and working in that field for several years, Dr. Logsdon didn’t find the work personally rewarding and decided to change the direction of his career and pursued a medical degree. He completed medical school at Louisiana University School of Medicine in New Orleans, and completed a residency and fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
“Pursuing a career in cardiothoracic surgery blends my engineering background with my desire to bring wellness to patients to return them to their best life, states Dr. Logsdon. “Chemical engineering was a good foundation from which to pursue medicine. I am fortunate to have found the best of both worlds.” Dr. Logsdon finds great satisfaction in being able to restore wellness and health to my patients, who usually are very ill when I first meet them.”
Dr. Logsdon relates and cares for his patients as if they were family members and includes patients’ families in the decision-making process. Fitness and nutrition are special interests of Dr. Logsdon and every patient will hear the importance of good nutrition and fitness as a key component to regaining wellness. “If my patients are not going to pursue good nutrition and fitness as part of their treatment plan, the benefits surgery can make will only be temporary.”
