Michael D. Hughes, MD

Michael Hughes, MD, is Board Certified in Family Medicine and is part of the Eisenhower Primary Care 365 practice at Plaza del Sol in Palm Springs. Dr. Hughes is an HIV specialist with certification from the American Academy of HIV Medicine. After completing medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine, he went on to complete his residency in family medicine at Family Medicine Spokane Residency Clinic. In addition to serving families - children to grandparents - Dr. Hughes is proud to serve the LGBT community.

It was during college that Dr. Hughes considered pursuing a career in medicine. "I was planning on doing research, until my uncle (a physician) encouraged me to consider going into medicine," states Dr. Hughes. "I shadowed several physicians in various specialties and knew what I wanted to do after spending a month with a family medicine doctor."

Dr. Hughes sees himself as his patients' advocate and educator. "I am a good listener and see my role as providing recommendations and options to my patients - allowing them to choose their health path," states Dr. Hughes.

Dr. Hughes is a fitness enthusiast and enjoys long-distance cycling and competing in triathlons.
