Norby Wang, MD, is a Board Certified General Surgeon with Eisenhower Health. He specializes in minimally invasive and robotically-assisted laparoscopic surgical procedures, including but not limited to hernia repair, gallbladder, and gastrointestinal surgeries. He is trained on the DaVinci™ Surgical System and performs over 200 robotic surgeries each year. In April of 2022, he completed his 1000th robotic surgery, becoming the youngest surgeon in the Coachella Valley to do so. In addition to robotic surgeries, Dr. Wang maintains a busy surgical practice in breast cancer surgery, melanoma surgery, complex open repairs for large hernias, colon and bowel surgery, peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion, and acute care surgery.
Since joining Eisenhower in 2017, Dr. Wang has been selected to be a leader in several roles. He has served as the Chair of the Robotic Steering Committee at Eisenhower since 2018. He was handpicked to be the Medical Director of the Eisenhower General Surgery Specialty Clinic in 2019 and then elected as the Section Chief of General Surgery at Eisenhower Health in 2020. In addition to serving in these leadership roles, he dedicates time in his practice to educating residents and medical students from UC San Diego, UC Riverside and Eisenhower Health.
Dr. Wang grew up in Southern California and completed his college and medical school education in Chicago. He trained in General Surgery as an intern, resident, and chief resident at Loyola University Medical Center from 2010 to 2015. He currently resides in Rancho Mirage with his wife and 3 young children - a son and identical twin daughters. In discussing his philosophy on patient care, he shares, “I believe in listening to patients and working collaboratively to help them achieve their health goals. I want my patients to be educated on every aspect of their condition and potential surgery so they know exactly what they can expect.”
