Dennis R. Long, MD
Specialties
- Internal Medicine
It was through the influence of Dr. Long’s best childhood friend’s father that he became interested in becoming a physician. “I grew up in a small town and I could see the difference that my best friend’s father made in the families in our area,” states Dr. Long. “I knew that I would be a primary care doctor at an early age, and didn’t deviate from that path as I progressed through medical school and residency.”
As Dr. Long works with patients, he sees his role as coordinator, assisting patients through the health care system. “I see my role as a quarterback – providing information to my patients regarding all elements of the health care system—from diagnosis, referring to specialists and being mindful of cost regarding tests and lab work,” states Dr. Long. “Our health care system is very complicated and most patients benefit in having an advocate to help them negotiate through all its facets.
In his free time, Dr. Long enjoys swimming, golfing and reading.
