Dr. Panguluri initially considered a career in business, but didn’t find the environment rewarding. “I realized that I wanted to make more of a difference in people’s lives,” stated Dr. Panguluri. “I didn’t like the culture of finance and knew I didn’t want to sit behind a desk.” He always enjoyed sciences, so he changed his study focus to pre-med. During rotations in medical school, he enjoyed his time in the “Cath-lab” (catheterization lab) and selected knew interventional cardiology as a subspecialty. “I like high-stress/high reward procedures, and interventional cardiology provides me with the challenge and reward that I seek. Knowing that I have improved someone’s life or saved it brings me great satisfaction.”
In reflecting on patient care, Dr. Panguluri states, “I understand that when dealing with conditions of the heart, patients are anxious and nervous. My goal is to ease their anxiety by providing information and education to them regarding their condition and options for treatments. I make recommendations, but it is the patient’s ultimate decision on what course to take in treating their ailment.”
