Dr. Lewis completed medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine and her residency program at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital both in Detroit, Michigan. "
Always community driven, Dr. Lewis’ first exposure to medicine was while serving as a candy striper in a local hospital when she was a teenager. “I always saw myself in a career that helped and bettered others,” states Dr. Lewis. “Medicine was a natural fit for me – I love problem solving and enjoy working for and with others.”
Dr. Lewis always wanted to treat all ages of people, so family medicine was a natural specialty to pursue. “Over my career, I have so enjoyed treating families – from babies to their grand and even great-grandparents,” Dr. Lewis states. “Seeing the whole spectrum of ages within a family, provides me added insight how to keep a patient healthy.”
When it comes to treating patients, Dr. Lewis seeks to gain a patients’ trust first and foremost. She also believes that patients need to be engaged in their own treatment plan. “My role is to first listen, then provide suggestions and recommendations based on my medical knowledge; but the patient must ‘steer the ship’ and be involved and willing to make lifestyle changes in order to see successful results.”
