Kent W. Thompson, MD

Kent Thompson, MD, is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology, specializing in breast imaging. He sees patients at the Eisenhower Schnitzer/Novak Breast Center at the Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center in Rancho Mirage.

After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Thompson completed an internship in internal medicine and then a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in diagnostic neuroradiology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. He later completed a visiting fellowship in mammography at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center.

Dr. Thompson’s father was a physician and it was Dr. Thompson’s desire to emulate him that drew him to pursue medicine as a career. During medical school, Dr. Thompson discovered that in addition to gaining satisfaction from interacting with patients, he enjoyed procedures. Radiology brought both of these aspects of medicine together. “I am a people-person,” states Dr. Thompson. “I knew that whatever specialty I decided upon needed to have lots of patient interaction – radiology has provided me with a great balance of what I enjoy about being a physician.”
