Dr. Gaultier is Board Certified in Infectious Disease and is an HIV specialist seeing patients at the Eisenhower Health Center at Rimrock in Palm Springs. He grew up in France and relocated to the United States to complete his studies, receiving his medical degree from UCLA Medical School. He then completed his residency program in Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and a fellowship in Infectious Disease at UCLA-Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Additionally, he has enjoyed teaching interns, residents and Fellows for the last 27 years in infectious disease, and was assistant clinical professor of medicine at UCLA Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Gaultier’s stepfather was a general practice physician and was influential in his decision to pursue a career in medicine. During his medical school rotations, Dr. Gaultier became interested in the specialty of infectious diseases, HIV in particular. “During the late 1980s, HIV dominated the scene, and there began to be a focus on research and care in treating the disease,” states Dr. Gaultier. “I began doing clinical research under Dr. David Ho, the leading research HIV scientist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at the time. This amazing experience significantly shaped my future career decisions.”
Dr. Gaultier has over 34 years of experience in working with HIV patients. As a proactive HIV manager, Dr. Gaultier looks holistically and critically at his patients’ medical histories. “Managing the toxicity of HIV meds is a priority. I strive to mitigate the effects of their long-term use,” explains Dr. Gaultier.
Dr. Gaultier takes a great deal of satisfaction in his relationships with patients and strives be a partner in their care.
