Mehdi Goodarzi, MD, is a board certified psychiatrist seeing patients in Rancho Mirage with the Eisenhower Behavioral Health clinic. After completing medical school, Dr. Goodarzi was a primary care physician in Iran for ten years before relocating to the United States. He earned an MBA from Yuin University in California before he completed psychiatric residency training at the Iowa Medical Education Collaborative Program in Des Moines, Iowa.
Growing up, Dr. Goodarzi excelled in sciences and as he contemplated a career he knew he wanted to pursue a vocation that helped others. During the war in Iran, he saw how doctors provided real help to those who were injured and decided to enroll in medical school. While on rotations, his interest in psychiatry grew.
“I know that my years practicing as a primary care physician will serve me well as I treat behavioral health patients,” states Dr. Goodarzi. “I treat patients from a whole-person perspective, knowing that physical health and mental health are intertwined.”
Dr. Goodarzi listens and observes his patients, and their actions and words provide a dynamic that leads him to the appropriate approach to take. “Each patients is individually and uniquely diagnosed and observed; together we develop a plan.
Dr. Goodarzi sees inpatient and patients in a clinical outpatient setting. He is also certified in providing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a non-invasive procedure that stimulates nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of depression that has not responded to medication.
