Dr. Hemmati completed his medical school, a residency program in General Surgery and fellowship training in Thoracic Surgery in Iran, where he was a practicing surgeon for 20 years. He has published several papers/book chapters in medicine and introduced a new surgical device (Hemmati Hydatid System).
Upon relocating to the United States, he served as a research fellow and visiting professor at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center. Most recently, Dr. Hemmati has completed a residency program in Internal Medicine at One Brooklyn Health in Brooklyn, New York.
Dr. Hemmati is excited about his transition from surgery to primary care because he strongly believes in the adage, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’.
“I am looking forward to this new role as a primary care physician overseeing patient’s health care. My background knowledge and practical experiences in surgery will only aid in my ability to prevent, diagnose and offer the best treatment recommendations to issues my patients are confronting,” states Dr. Hemmati.
