Peter R. Schulz, MD, is a General Surgeon at Eisenhower Health. Dr. Schulz, a native of Chicago, received his medical degree from Loyola University of Chicago—Stritch School of Medicine. He completed his surgical residency at University of Illinois Metro Group in Chicago as well.
After completing the 5 year residency program, he was a trauma surgeon at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in the Chicago.
Dr. Schulz has been on the medical staff at Eisenhower Health since 1989, joining his brother in partnership and developing with him a reputation of being one of the “Anchor Surgeons” of the Medical Center. Affectionately known as” The Brothers” to their patient's in this community, Dr. Peter and Dr. Karl have successfully operated on thousands of patients in the Coachella Valley. After decades of private practice and community service, he joined Eisenhower Medical Associates (EMA) in 2018 to assure forward looking surgical and medical practice success.
Throughout the years, Dr. Peter Schulz has been awarded innumerable local, state, and national award recognitions. At Eisenhower Health, he has been a member of the Cancer committee, Quality Assurance committee, Medical Executive committee, Infection Control committee, Utilization Review committee, Credentials committee and Medical Staff by Law committee. He has also been recognized as a “Top Doctor” by Palm Springs Life magazine and received awards by Castle Connolly as “Top Doctor.”
Together with his brother and other Eisenhower general surgeons, Dr. Schulz was awarded , along with the Medical Center, the lowest adjusted rate of complications for laparoscopic gallbladder removal in the state of California by ProPublica, and independent, nonprofit, investigative, award winning consumer advocate group based on Medicare data from 2009 to 2013.
His special interest and passions include breast cancer care and surgery, laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, hernia surgery, and cancer care. He is a member of numerous professional surgical organizations including American College of Surgeons (Fellow) and American Society of Breast Surgeons.
With greater than three decades of experience, Dr. Peter Schulz focuses on quality, integrity, good surgical skills and communication for his patients and their families.
