Eisenhower Bariatric Center

Bariatric Surgery (weight loss surgery) is now recognized as the standard of care: the only proven, long-term treatment of morbid obesity*. This is based on several studies performed by the National Institutes of Health, which has repeatedly proven surgery as the only safe, long-term option for patients suffering from excessive weight and co-existing health problems. Bariatric Surgery has also been endorsed by the Surgeon General of the United States and Medicare.

da Vinci Robotic System

All procedures are performed through minimally invasive surgery** using the state-of–the–art da Vinci robotic system. Five small incisions (<0.5cm size) are made across the abdomen. This allows for insertion of a camera, providing the surgeon a 3D image inside the abdomen. Robotic instrumentation is inserted into the other incisions. These instruments have a 360-degree wrist rotation (normal wrist rotation only allows for 180 degrees), allowing for the more precise dissection and suturing, translating into safer surgical outcomes. Most patients experience less pain, fewer complications, shorter hospital stays and a quicker return to normal activities. Currently, Eisenhower Bariatric Center offers the most experienced robotic bariatric surgery program in Southern California, with superior outcomes.

**Minimally invasive surgery: This is where all of the above mentioned surgeries are performed via five small (<0.5 cm in size) incisions across the abdomen.
