"I started college at the University of Illinois with the intent of going to medical school, but found I enjoyed studying Chemistry and Physics, and even went to graduate school in Physical Chemistry for one year. I liked my classes but quickly realized that my first choice of a career in medicine was better for me. I wanted to work with people, not in a laboratory."
Throughout his career, Dr. Hermanowicz primary emphasis in his work has been on patient care, although he has also always been involved in clinical research and education. He says he likes getting to know his patients, and he is delighted to again practice at Eisenhower Medical Center and looks forward to reconnecting with many people, patients and colleagues alike. Outside of his work, Dr. Hermanowicz enjoys time with his family, and also music, reading, writing, and occasional travel abroad. "My wife is from Iceland, and our daughter and son both live in Europe. "We have been married 41 years. I think it remarkable that my wife and I found each other, between Normal, Illinois and Iceland."
