Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) Tests and Screening for Prostate Cancer: Separating Fact From Fiction

  • Annenberg Health Sciences Building
  • 09/19/2024
  • From 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

Screening for prostate cancer using the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test has been controversial since its approval in 1986, due to certain limitations to the test. Recent advances in prostate cancer screening, such as new imaging tests and new urine tests allow for greater specificity in detecting prostate cancer.

Join James Hendricks, MD, Board Certified in Urology, as he addresses up-to-date screening guidelines for prostate cancer and the use of PSA as one of many tools available to determine if a prostate cancer should be treated.

Presented as part of the Selby Dunham Community Lecture Series.
