Aging with HIV: Diabetes and Other Metabolic Issues
- Mizell Center, Palm Springs
- 06/02/2026
- From 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Individuals aging with HIV face an elevated risk of diabetes and metabolic syndrome due to a combination of chronic inflammation, long-term antiretroviral therapy (ART) effects, and traditional aging factors. While modern ART has reduced severe metabolic toxicities, they have not eliminated them, and a "metaflammation" state-a mix of chronic HIV-related inflammation and aging-accelerates immune dysfunction, cardiovascular disease, and, notably, type 2 diabetes.
Join Amanda Rittenberg, MD, Board Certified in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine, for an in-depth discussion and Q&A.
Presented in partnership with HIV+ AGING RESEARCH PROJECT.
