Eisenhower Health Celebrates 10 Years of Pioneering Trascatheter Aoritic Valve Replacement (TAVR)

In addition to earning the U.S. News and World Report badge for high performing hospitals for aortic valve surgery, Eisenhower Health proudly commemorates a decade of excellence in performing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), marking its position as the first and only hospital in the Coachella Valley to offer this life-saving procedure.
Since introducing TAVR in 2015, Eisenhower Health has transformed the treatment landscape for patients with severe aortic stenosis - a condition characterized by the narrowing of the aortic valve opening. Traditionally requiring open-heart surgery, aortic valve replacement became more accessible through TAVR’s minimally invasive approach, allowing for valve replacement via catheterization.
Over the past decade, Eisenhower Health’s dedicated TAVR team has performed nearly 1,300 TAVR procedures, achieving a remarkable 99% success rate that surpasses national averages. This multidisciplinary team comprises interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, imaging specialists, cardiac anesthesiologists, and specialized support staff, all committed to providing patient-centric care.
In recognition of its exceptional outcomes and commitment to advancing cardiac care, Eisenhower Health became the first hospital in California to complete the Edwards Benchmark program for TAVR. This distinction led to its designation as the inaugural Edwards Benchmark program Case Observation Site in the United States, enabling Eisenhower Health to host and train TAVR teams from across the nation.
Eisenhower Health’s unwavering dedication to cardiac excellence ensures that residents of the Coachella Valley have access to cutting-edge treatments and superior patient care, solidifying its role as a leader in cardiovascular health.
