Neurologist Returns to Coachella Valley to Serve Her Community

What led her back to the beautiful and comparatively calm desert? Family.
“I was intentional in coming back here,” says Dr. Shukry. “After being away from family for 10 years, you want to be around for the important moments.”
Dr. Shukry and her family originally moved to the Coachella Valley during her second-grade year in elementary school. She attended La Quinta schools for elementary and middle school, and graduated from La Quinta High School in 2010.
Her youngest sister, who recently graduated from La Quinta High School, was born with Down syndrome during Dr. Shukry’s freshman year in high school.
“Interactions with the medical world really opened my view on things that were productive and helpful and aided the family and the patient,” explains Shukry, “and, things that weren’t as helpful.”
“It opened my interest in brain and behavior and the interaction between the two of them,” she adds, “and now I’m a neurologist!”
Board Certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology, Dr. Shukry began practicing at Eisenhower Health in August 2024.
She’s happy to have returned home and to help others like herself who could be supporting family with their care.
“It’s been a pleasure and an honor to be able to come back and serve the community I grew up in,” she says.
