Allergy/Immunology Specialist Returns to his Roots to Practice at Eisenhower

Born and raised in the Coachella Valley, the Palm Desert High School 2009 graduate watched his mother return to her career as a nurse at Eisenhower Health and his father, a now-retired cardiologist, practice locally, including at Eisenhower.
The youngest of three, he left the valley to study at University of California, Santa Barbara with an undecided major. After more exposure to the field, including a visit to a cardiac cath lab, Dr. Majid chose to pursue a career in medicine. His medical training led him to medical school in Florida, an Internal Medicine residency in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a fellowship in Allergy/Immunology in New York.
Initially, Dr. Majid looked to return to his roots with a position at Eisenhower, but that was filled. When he was about to move elsewhere, the position became available. Dr. Majid returned to the Coachella Valley and is raising a family with his wife in a home near his parents in Bermuda Dunes.
“Having the grandparents around is quite nice,” says Dr. Majid. “It’s a win/win situation. There is a big demand for the specialty.”
Fully integrated back into Coachella Valley life, Dr. Majid’s stepdaughter is following in his footsteps, going into her second year at Palm Desert High in the fall. Time will tell if one or both of his daughters will continue the tradition and pursue medicine.
“I’ve come full circle,” says Dr. Majid.
