Alfonso M. Vazquez Gonzalez, MD

Alfonso Vazquez, MD, is a Board Certified Family Medicine physician seeing patients in Indio. He completed his medical education at St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada and his family medicine residency at Eisenhower Medical Center.

Originally from Veracruz, Mexico, Dr. Vazquez moved to the United States as a young child. He recalls announcing his aspiration to become a doctor to his mother at an early age. With a lifelong interest in science, he pursued studies in biology and psychology during college, intending to enter medical school. It was during his clinical rotations that Dr. Vazquez decided to specialize in family medicine. "Family medicine provides the largest variety in medicine," states Dr. Vazquez. "I am able to see patients of all ages, and I enjoy the 'detective' aspect of practicing medicine. It's like putting the pieces of a puzzle together when diagnosing a complex set of symptoms. I enjoy that."

Dr. Vazquez strives to be approachable with his patients. "I want my patients to feel comfortable with me and to be truthful. I had a mentor-physician who once told me, 'No matter how knowledgeable you are, your impact is limited if patients don't feel they can talk to you.'"
