Ehete Bahiru, MD, is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. As a general cardiologist, she works with Eisenhower Desert Cardiology Center in Rancho Mirage, California. Dr. Bahiru has special interests in prevention, women’s health, complex hypertension and heart failure.
After completing her undergraduate studies in neuroscience at the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles, Dr. Bahiru earned her medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California. She completed an Internal Medicine residency program at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. From there she was a Northern Pacific Global Health Consortium Fellow at the University of Washington in Seattle, and completed a Cardiology Fellowship at UCLA, David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles. While doing her cardiology fellowship, Dr. Bahiru completed a Master of Science in Health Policy and Management at UCLA, Fielding School of Public Health. Dr Bahiru then completed an advanced cardiac imaging fellowship form the University of Washington in Seattle.
Originally from Ethiopia, Dr. Bahiru saw firsthand what poor health care and services looked like. She came to the United State while in high school and became interested in biology and global health medicine and decided to pursue medicine as a career. While in medical school she decided to specialize in cardiology.
