Deep R. Patel, MD

Dr. Patel was always interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. Initially she was interested in veterinary science, but soon realized that seeing animals in pain was not the best choice, so she pivoted to earning a medical degree. It was while in residency for anesthesiology that she learned of a sub specialty in pain management.  "I was influenced in residency by very passionate attending physicians," states Dr. Patel. "I decided at that point to get fellowship training in chronic pain."  She enjoys the longer-term relationships with patients that treating chronic pain provides.

"I am a believer in shared decision making with my patients," comments Dr. Patel, "My role is to educate patients on what is causing their pain and explain options available to alleviate the pain, as well as preventative measures. There are usually numerous options available short of surgery to address pain issues." Based on the patient's lifestyle and possible other health conditions, she works with the patients in developing a treatment plan that best suits that individual.
