Tate A. de Leon, MD
Specialties
- Family Medicine
As part of his Urban Family Medicine residency, Dr. de Leon worked in Honduras, providing health care to the poverty-stricken populations of Roatan and Le Ceibe. Considered one of the poorest countries in the world, his time in Honduras afforded Dr. de Leon first-hand experience of the many health care challenges these impoverished countries face. The diversity in his patients’ conditions presented Dr. de Leon opportunities to hone his physical exam skills, exposed him to common field procedures, and most importantly, to advocate for the underserved. “We are very fortunate living in the United States. As a family physician, we have an obligation to help those in need.”
Dr. de Leon has an interest in wound care and is certified in advanced cardiac life support, advanced traumatic life support, fundamentals of critical care support, wound healing and advanced life support in obstetrics.
He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, tennis, skiing, snowboarding and hunting.
“I believe family medicine physicians are at the forefront of health care. We are in the unique position to form a partnership with our patients that can span generations. It is this in-depth continuity that allows us to deliver specialized medicine to each individual. As a primary care physician, it is very gratifying to know that I can make a positive difference in a patient’s life. It is a privilege to be a part of patients’ health care and I look forward to having an impact on their lives.”
