Maritza D. De la Pena, MD

Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, Maritza De La Pena, MD, is an Eisenhower Primary Care 365 physician seeing patients at the Rancho Mirage Medical Center.

Dr. De La Pena completed a residency program in internal medicine at Presence Saint Francis Hospital
in Evanston, Illinois, and then a fellowship program in geriatric medicine at Thomas Jefferson University
Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The field of medicine was a perfect fit for Dr.   De La Pena as it combines the art and science of healing, service and compassion.“I am an empathetic person with a passion for helping and taking care of others,” she states. “Internal medicine is a highly complex specialty that is at the same time challenging and rewarding. I love seeing my patients with a holistic approach, instead of focusing on a single organ or system. My training in internal medicine and geriatrics provide me the knowledge to treat and take care of patients with multiple chronic medical conditions.”

Dr. De La Pena’s approach to patient care is highly personalized and individualized,being respectful of patients’ wishes and attuned to their goals of care. “My job is to offer and discuss the best treatment options that will align with my patients’ preferences and philosophy.”

Dr. De La Pena loves spending time with her husband, son, stepson and their dog.She enjoys cooking, outdoor activities, nature walks and sunshine.
