We will achieve a professional and transformational environment through facilitation of relationship-based care that allows:
- Patients, family and friends to acknowledge their experience as "ideal nursing care”.
- Nurses to look forward to coming to work each day.
- Nurses to engage and promote philanthropy of the organization through nursing care excellence achieved by:
- the conscious use of evidence-based nursing practice, and
- the achievement of national benchmarks for nurse-sensitive indicators.
- Nurses to voice their pride in being patient advocates and having collaborative interprofessional relationships.
- The community to view Eisenhower nurses as an indispensable resource and leaders in innovative nursing practice
Philosophy
The Eisenhower Health Nursing Organization believes that the primary purpose of nursing is to provide the highest quality care to every patient and family using the Relationship-Based Care Model. In this model, nursing practice is based on evidence based research and education, and relationships are enriched through self-reflection and life experiences. This model focuses on three components: (1) the patient, and their family, (2) our co-workers and the relationships we have with each other, and (3) the care of self. Each component is equally important to provide safe, quality healthcare.
We believe that nursing is both an art and a science, through which we guide our patients, their families, and the community toward optimal wellness by exemplifying our core values of safety, efficiency, clinical excellence, provision of a healing environment and courtesy & caring. The nursing process consists of a scientific nursing diagnosis, evidence-based plans of care, nursing orders and interventions, continuous modification and assessment, and the continual evaluation of patient outcomes in order to meet the changing needs and expectations of our patients and their families.
Our nursing practice occurs in collaboration with physicians and other members of the health care team in order to create a work environment in which every member of the team is respected and recognized for their unique contributions to patient care. The patient and their family or significant others are involved in the development and implementation of nursing care.
Nursing practice at Eisenhower Health is facilitated by effective leadership and management using a strong shared governance model which supports partnership, equity and ownership. This practice empowers staff in shared decision-making practices, while promoting responsibility, authority, and accountability.
