Eisenhower Health Physician First in Southern California to Use New FDA-Approved Carotid Stent System

The CGuard Prime Carotid Stent System was recently launched commercially in the United States by InspireMD, Inc., following approval of its premarket application by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This milestone marks a significant step in expanding access to advanced stroke-prevention technology for U.S. physicians and patients.
Carotid artery disease occurs when plaque buildup narrows the carotid arteries, restricting blood flow to the brain and increasing the risk of ischemic stroke. The CGuard Prime system features the only mesh-covered stent, intended to enhance plaque stabilization and reduce the risk of embolization during and after the procedure.
“This technology represents an important advancement in the treatment of carotid artery disease,” says Jerry Chang, MD. “Being the first in Southern California to use this FDA-approved device allows us to offer patients access to a next-generation option focused on procedural safety and long-term stroke prevention.”
Eisenhower Health continues to invest in innovative, minimally invasive technologies that expand treatment options and improve outcomes for patients throughout the Coachella Valley and surrounding region. The introduction of the CGuard Prime Carotid Stent System further strengthens Eisenhower Health’s comprehensive cardiovascular and neurovascular care services.
