Virginia became interested in pursuing a career in the health care field by first working as front office staff in a medical practice. As she became more interested in the clinical side of the practice, she decided to become a Medical Assistant. She worked as a medical assistant in a dermatology office while she was in college and was influence by a physician assistant. “As I talked with my colleague, I was intrigued by the broad-base of experience she had and decided to pursue becoming a Physician Assistant,” states Virginia. After receiving her certification, she worked in a Family Medicine Practice but realized that dermatology was the specialty that interested her most.
As a Certified PA, Virginia evaluates, diagnoses and treats a broad variety of skin conditions both medically and surgically. Virginia performs screening exams, preventive care and patient education for dermatologic patients. She focuses her practice on skin cancer and only sees patients with a history of skin cancer.
