From an early age, Dr. Robinson developed a love for learning and teaching. He was inspired by his mother, a teacher herself, and his high school psychology teacher, who first exposed him to neuroscience. After completing an undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina in experimental psychology, he went on to medical school where he favored the neuroscience subspecialties of psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and neurology. “I was most interested in neurology as it focuses on establishing the initial diagnosis and treatment of potentially life-altering and debilitating illnesses,” states Dr. Robinson. “My personal interests within neurology include cognitive neurology (dementias and personality changes), sports neurology (concussions, head injuries) and headaches.” He also has extensive experience in treating acute strokes and managing their long-term complications.
Dr. Robinson aims to treat his patients like family members. “My role is to understand why a patient is seeking help and to inform them with the best ways to treat their diagnosis,” states Dr. Robinson. “I am inclusionary and encourage family member involvement and strive for an open dialogue. We are all on the same team, with the same goal.”
