    Dr. Choe earned his Medical Degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his General Surgery residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, then continued with sub-specialty training in minimally invasive surgery at The Allegheny Health, Network Esophageal and Lung Institute in Pittsburgh. He completed a Fellowship in Advanced Foregut Surgery, using the latest endoscopic, laparoscopic, and assisted techniques available to treat esophageal and gastric disease.

    In discussing patient care, Dr. Choe states, “Many patients want to understand what is happening clinically.I see my role in educating the patient about their illness or disease, and how it’s affecting their health.I present options to the patient, allowing them to make an informed decision about their treatment and health care.”

    Initially, Dr. Choe thought he would specialize in pediatrics; however, during medical school rotations, he became intrigued with the possibility of expediting the healing process through surgical intervention.Dr. Choe shares, “I became very interested and excited to be able to address an illness or disease through surgery; bringing health and healing back to the patient.”

    In his clinical practice, Dr. Choe is a skilled General Surgeon, specializing in esophageal and gastric diseases.His commitment to advanced medical and surgical treatment is evidenced by his training and utilization of the daVinci® Surgical System for robot assisted, minimally invasive surgeries. The daVinci® technology offers a less invasive technique than traditional surgery (open) and allows surgeries to be performed through a few, small incisions. Using the daVinci® Surgery technology may allow patients to have less need for pain medication, smaller incisions for minimal scarring, a shorter hospital stay and faster recovery. Dr. Choe completed his fellowship training in Advanced Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Treatment of esophageal and gastric cancer, hiatal hernias, esophageal motility disorders, and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
