Lymphedema Program
Treatment of lymphedema is intended to control the swelling and prevent further damage or injuries from occurring. Treatment includes several modalities including exercise, pressure garments and bandages, fluid mobilization, and skin care designed to keep patients active with activities of daily living, relieve pain and maintain full mobility of the involved limb.
Eisenhower employs specially trained and certified therapists who utilize best practice standards to treat upper and lower quadrant lymphedema patients. Programs are designed to emphasize the patient’s ability to participate in continuing care in the home setting.
How to Get Started
A physician's prescription with a diagnosis is required. An initial appointment can be made by calling or walking in to the department. If faxing the prescription, please include the patient's telephone number so that an appointment may be scheduled. Following the initial evaluation by a licensed therapist, additional appointments will be made based on medical necessity. Treatment at Eisenhower Health's Rehabilitation Services department is covered by most insurance providers.
