Neuroscience Program
Eisenhower believes in specialized care for the neurologically impaired patient. Neurological conditions affect each patient individually with a wide range of presenting symptoms. With outcome goals of returning the patient to the highest level of function possible, each neurological patient is evaluated and set up on a treatment program to address their unique needs.
A comprehensive team of physical, occupational and speech therapists experienced in working with stroke, head injuries, MS, Parkinson’s and other neurological movement disorders provide progressive functional rehabilitation.
Multiple treatment approached are utilized including neurodevelopmental (NDT) therapy and proprioceptive neurological facilitation (PNF) for adult and pediatric neurological conditions. Included is an advanced functional electrical stimulation foot drop system and evaluations for speech generating devices and cognitive memory rehabilitation. In addition, for the Parkinson's population, the rehabilitation team offers the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) BIG and SPEAK OUT! programs.
How to Get Started
The Neuroscience Program is offered in the Dolores Hope Building. Treatment at Eisenhower Health's Rehabilitation Services department is covered by most insurance providers. A physician's prescription with a diagnosis is required. An initial appointment can be made by calling or walking in to the department. If faxing the prescription, please include the patient's telephone number so that an appointment may be scheduled. Following the initial evaluation by a licensed therapist, additional appointments will be made based on medical necessity.
