Airborne Infection Rooms
Our Family Birth Center has airborne infection isolation rooms for every stage of labor. These rooms allow us to safely deliver and care for a child in the event that a mother has a contagious illness, such as COVID-19, that requires isolation. Two negative pressure delivery rooms are available for laboring women. If we need the room after birth, we move mother and baby to one of our two airborne infection isolation rooms.
Should the baby test positive for COVID-19, mother and baby will be relocated to our airborne infection isolation room in the NICU. Our staff follows special CDC protocols when entering, occupying, and exiting all areas designated for the care and treatment of women and babies who test positive for COVID-19. If the need arises, our regular LDRP rooms can also be converted to negative pressure rooms.
