Christopher Schiessl, MD, is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. After finishing medical school at Georgetown University, Dr. Schiessl completed his residency program at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York.

Encouraged by his interests in the sciences, Dr. Schiessl obtained an undergraduate degree in Biology. “After working in the research arena for a while, I quickly figured out that it wasn’t for me,” states Dr. Schiessl.  “I decided to pursue medicine and attend medical school.” Knowing that he enjoyed working with people, internal medicine was the obvious specialty to pursue to match his interests and personality.

After completing his residency, Dr. Schiessl decided to relocate to the west coast and set up an internal medicine practice in Northern California that also focused on treating HIV patients. “The HIV field is always undergoing rapid change, with new developments occurring on a regular basis,” states Dr. Schiessl. “I have been active in research involving new HIV medications, novel treatments, and clinical trials. I enjoy the multifaceted nature of my practice taking care of patients young and old, HIV positive and negative, from all walks of life. I hope to continue this diversity in my new practice.”

With regard to his role as a primary care physician, Dr. Schiessl states, “My role is to educate my patients regarding their disease state, ailments, or tendencies and provide recommendations that best suit their lifestyle. I find patients to be very savvy and often have done their research prior to seeing me about a health issue. I find this collaboration very exciting. Knowing that I will be in a long-term relationship with my patients is fulfilling and rewarding.”
