Eisenhower Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Compassionate, Expert Care for Our Littlest Patients
Our Level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is well equipped to care for babies born at 32 weeks gestational age or later and for full-term babies who need additional support or surveillance after delivery. The NICU is staffed around-the-clock with an in-house pediatric hospitalist and neonatologist who specialize in the care of newborns.
The birth of a sick, premature, or special needs baby is an emotionally challenging experience for new parents. Nursing or bathing a newborn can be especially intimidating if that infant is underweight and premature. Our state-of-the-art, 8-bed level II NICU has a room for each tiny patient so that parents can have privacy as they learn about their baby’s needs. Caring, specially trained NICU nurses give parents hands-on instruction in caring for sick, fragile, or premature newborns and work with families to help nurture the bond between them and their child.
