Our Philosophy
Pregnancy, labor, birth, and those early days with a newborn are a memorable, life-changing time for you and your family. Our goal is to provide you with a positive experience and give your little one the best possible start in life. In order to achieve this goal, we commit to:
- Fostering a comfortable, confident relationship of trust between you and your birth care team
- Involving you as a partner in your own care throughout your pregnancy, labor, and delivery
- Building shared decision making into every aspect of your care by providing information about known benefits, harms, and areas of uncertainty associated with any decisions you may make
- Educating you about alternatives to the care you are receiving, including the decision to avoid intervention
- Encouraging you to decide how to labor and give birth, based on your preferences, your health status, and that of your unborn child, and fill out a birth plan listing your preferences
- Delivering the level of care that is appropriate to your needs and those of your baby
- Supporting you physically and emotionally throughout labor and birth
- Offering you access to a full-range of evidence-based, non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic strategies for pain management
- Ensuring that our providers participate in continued education to maintain their skills and have access to a full range of medical options to provide you with the best possible care
- Promoting early attachment and initiating breastfeeding, following Baby- Friendly principles established by the World Health Organization and Baby-Friendly USA
